The show was inspired by The 1996 Coen brothers' film of the same name, Fargo starred veteran actors Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman as well as Bob Odenkirk. Tolman was praised for her performance as the character of Minnesota Police Officer Molly Solverson. Vanity Fair said that Tolman has "calmly certainly stole the entire production". Tolman, who is an active Twitter user, stated that she had "pretty remarkable" results on the ABC Drama Emergence. The show premiered in September, but was canceled after a season ending on May 21, 2020. She was also an actor on NBC's Good Girls.
